Veterinarians Q&A Area
Q: How often should we be sharpening our Surgical Clipper Blades?
A: Many of our Vet's are on a 6 week schedule for sharpening services. By maintaining sharp, clean sanitized Surgical #40 blades makes a huge difference when trying to prep a surgical area. If clipper blades look rusted, bloody, or feel dull then it's time to recondition & sharpen them.
![]() Q: Do you guys sharpen Bandage Scissors, and other surgical instruments?
A: Indeed we do. We offer sharpening services for many of the instruments in your surgical packs. Bandage Scissors and Sutures are just some of the items we can re-sharpen so your surgery goes smoothly.
![]() Q: Should I have my Clippers Serviced?
A: If you have not serviced your Oster® or andis® clippers in the last 4-8 months its time! Levers & Clipper Components are key to the performance of any clipper blade. If your lever is worn then full sweeping action does not occur, leaving your newly sharpened blade lacking its full cutting potential. Also worn latches or hinges that wear do to everyday on and off transitions with each other can lead to rattling blades that don't attach firmly or correct.
